How do I download a broker tradebook?

Download a CSV, TSV, XLS, or XLSX tradebook before upload. The file should include trade date, scrip or security name, buy/sell direction, executed quantity, and net amount or trade price. Keep the original broker columns intact; if automatic detection does not match, the import review step can map the required fields.

Verified steps

Zerodha

Best file: Console Tradebook CSV or XLSX.

  1. Log in to Zerodha Console.
  2. Open Reports, then Tradebook.
  3. Choose the equity segment and date range, then run the report.
  4. Use Download and choose CSV or XLSX.

Zerodha documents a 365-day limit for each Tradebook download, so long histories may need multiple exports. Use the tradebook for row-level transactions. P&L reports are useful for cross-checking, but they may not include every field needed for XIRR.

Supported import

HDFC Securities

Best file: HDFC tradebook or execution report XLS/XLSX.

  1. Open the HDFC Securities or InvestRight reports area.
  2. Export the equity tradebook, order report, or execution report as XLS, XLSX, or CSV.
  3. Upload the original file without deleting broker columns.

The app attempts broker-specific parsing when it detects a supported HDFC tradebook-style format. If the file is a newer or older layout, use column mapping with the required fields.

Generic mapping

Other brokers

Best file: Clean CSV, TSV, XLS, or XLSX tradebook.

  1. Open the broker reports or downloads area.
  2. Download a tradebook, transaction report, or ledger-style equity trade export.
  3. Confirm the file includes the minimum fields before upload.

Screenshots and PDFs are not import-ready; export a spreadsheet file whenever possible. Do not rely on summary P&L alone unless it includes row-level dates, securities, sides, quantities, and amounts.

What file formats are supported?

We provide full support for HDFC Securities, Zerodha, and standard Cashflow CSV files. You can upload CSV, TSV, XLS, or XLSX files. Tradebooks from other brokers can often be processed with automated generic mapping or a quick manual column configuration when they include date, scrip name, buy/sell direction, quantity, and amount.

What is XIRR?

XIRR is the annualized return for cashflows that happen on different dates. We use an Actual/365 basis.

Is my data stored?

Normal analysis runs in your browser. Your transaction & portfolio data is saved securely directly on your device. We do not store any of your data on our servers.

When does data leave my browser?

Current-price enrichment sends stock identifiers such as scrip name, ISIN, and exchange to the market-data service. If price lookup cannot resolve a symbol, AI market-symbol assist may send unresolved scrip names and candidate symbols when enabled. AI import assist sends headers and limited sample rows only after you click Prefill with AI.
